CHRISTIAN + JENNIFER

C+J | What a fun day celebrating these two! Despite the rain, they made great memories of their special day! As y’all may or may not know, I started in weddings, 16+ years ago, so every once in awhile I get to photograph one, and they’re pretty fun, and busy!

Their wedding was at the Dallas Arboretum and it was lovely! They were awesome to take great care of us even though the rain! Enjoy the photos and all the joy with me!

And here's a few tips for you!

When planning an outdoor wedding ceremony, there are several important factors to consider to ensure a beautiful and smooth event:

  1. Weather Contingency Plans: Outdoor ceremonies are vulnerable to the elements, so it's crucial to have a backup plan in case of inclement weather. Consider renting a tent or securing an indoor alternative nearby. Additionally, provide amenities such as umbrellas, fans, or heaters depending on the season to keep guests comfortable. Keep a close eye on weather forecasts leading up to the event and have a clear communication plan in place to notify guests of any changes.

  2. Venue Logistics and Permits: Choose a venue that not only fits your aesthetic vision but also offers the necessary amenities and permits for an outdoor ceremony. Ensure there is ample space for seating, a designated area for the ceremony, and easy access for guests, vendors, and equipment. Familiarize yourself with any venue regulations or restrictions regarding noise, decorations, and cleanup to avoid any last-minute surprises.

  3. Natural Lighting and Ambiance: Take advantage of the natural beauty surrounding your outdoor venue by carefully considering the timing of your ceremony to coincide with optimal lighting conditions. Pay attention to the position of the sun to avoid harsh shadows or glare, and consider adding decorative elements such as string lights, lanterns, or floral arrangements to enhance the ambiance. Keep in mind the natural soundscape of the outdoors and how it might affect audio equipment or guest experience, and plan accordingly.

  4. Comfort and Accessibility: Prioritize the comfort and accessibility of your guests by providing adequate seating, shade, and amenities. Consider renting chairs with cushions for added comfort, providing sunscreen or bug repellent stations, and offering refreshments such as water or lemonade to keep guests hydrated. Ensure that pathways are well-lit and accessible for guests of all ages and abilities, and consider providing signage or assistance for those unfamiliar with the venue layout. Additionally, communicate any dress code guidelines to guests in advance to help them prepare appropriately for the outdoor setting.

The reception was absolutely lovely! Beautiful guests and yummy food! We had a great time!! Thank you for stopping by!
